Historic Louisbourg

April to November 2020

Length of tour: 4 hours

Driving time: 1.5 hours

Maximum 5 people

Visit the historic town of Louisbourg.  Settled in early 18th Century, Louisbourg was once the main settlement on Isle Royale (Cape Breton Island).

You will visit the Fortress of Louisbourg, Sydney & Louisbourg Railway Museum and the Louisbourg Lighthouse.

At the Fortress of Louisbourg: Step back into 1744 while French soldiers march down the streets of the town. Cannon fire shakes the ground and muskets can be heard firing from the Soldier's Guard House.  Baking bread aromas drifting from the stone bakery.  Chat with fishermen, sailors and servants. Sip rum and watch lace-making as children play 300-year-old games and stew simmers on an open-hearth fire. It’s so real, it seems surreal. I am a great lover of this site and am very happy to explore with you.

The Sydney & Louisbourg Railway Museum is a great artifact of a former rail station that served the local area for passenger and cargo transport.

The Louisbourg Lighthouse is our final stop.  This location will give you amble opportunity to take some amazing photos.  If you decide, you can also explore the Louisbourg trail along the shoreline.
